NIT likely next for UC
“I’d be shocked if we don’t get a chance in the postseason,” UC coach Mick Cronin said Friday. “I don’t think we have to worry about that.”
The web site NITology.com on Friday projected the Bearcats (18-15) as a No. 3 seed in the NIT. UC’s last appearance in the NIT was in 2006 under interim head coach Andy Kennedy. The 32-team field will be announced Sunday night. UC arrived in New York on Monday coming off a blowout loss at Georgetown last Saturday and seeded No. 11 in the Big East tournament. The Bearcats had lost five of their previous six games and appeared destined for another quick and winless stay in New York. But they held on to beat Rutgers by one point in the first round – recording their first victory in the tournament after three losses – and then knocked off No. 6 seed Louisville by three. Their run came to an end late Thursday night in the conference quarterfinals when Da’Sean Butler banked in a 3-point shot over Lance Stephenson as time expired to give No. 3 seed West Virginia a 54-51 victory. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2...ly+next+for+UC |
