But yeah I don't worry about that so much either. There was a post on twitter about how Loyola has more tourney wins in 2 weeks than us, Georgetown, Ohio State, Memphis, Indiana, and whoever have in 5 years. Someone pointed out in response that all those other schools have at least made coaching changes recently to try to shake things up. Something's gotta give at some point. Just running it back with everything the exact same isn't going to change our fate one bit. I'm not saying make a coaching change. But if we d get to that point in the next couple years, I don't think it automatically means we fall into the abyss. A guy like Nick Van Exel would generate a lot of positive buzz. He has credentials that would help him in recruiting too. He'd be the first choice imo. If Cronin gets a 14-15 year run, that's plenty of time to make something happen. If he can't get us there, might as well let someone else try. Earlier I said I'd give Cronin 2 more years. I stand by that from a performance standpoint. But I looked at his contract and he is signed for 3 more years. I'd like to let that contract play out without an extension to put some pressure on him. 15 seasons should yield more than 1 game played in the 2nd weekend of the NCAA Tournament. So until he gets us there again, why add anything onto his deal? |

Lol. Yeah cause we are gonna hire a nobody and he's for sure gonna be as good as Steven or huggins. You have a top 20 coach. Stability. It's not a stupid argument at all.

it is stupid though. it's scared to make a change because of the chance it could go wrong. Having no faith that you could make a good hire. I didn't say make a change, but that way of thinking is stupid.

I suppose. IMO we are well above mediocracy. So it's not like we are just trying to take a step up from that. I think you have to look at what he has done with the players he's had and there no way you can't call him a top 20 coach, tournament success or not. So you're saying that there is a chance we find a guy who could fall into the top 20 with the right resources. That just seems like a hug jump and big risk o you ask me

if you lose a couple times early, thats basketball. if it happens 7 out of 8 times, something is wrong. Either the players are not good enough, coaching isn't good enough, or the philosophy isn't working. Either way, something needs to change, to simply chalk it up, to "march madness" is wrong

UCLA got rid of their assistant coach who was their recruiting coordinator. Unless he's totally sketchy, it'd be awesome to get him on the staff.
In 2016 David Grace was ranked #7 nationally and #1 in the West by ESPN for the best recruiters based on feedback from a D1 coaching peer survey by ESPN. |

Multiple reports on twitter stating that Xavier commit Jake Walter from Cov Cath is not on the roster and will not play for Xavier.
Shannon Russell said it was an "undisclosed legal matter" I assume he was arrested. This not a surprise to me at all coming from this program. It has become the norm for them. |
