I would agree here. Cane has to figure out the speed of the game in the next 2-3 weeks. We can't afford for him to learn in January...December is too big.

Stuff everyone probably already said...
Need work on free throws. No excuse to be bad there. Passing...I like where our heads are at. We'll get on the same page and look crisper as the year goes on. Trevor Moore is good. I never mind him shooting. Perma-Green Light from 3. Keith Williams is relentless. He's special. Nsoseme plays really hard. Jenifer is confident and having fun playing. He's very important. |

No sarcasm at all. We have true point guards this season. The past four years, we didn't have a true point guard....except for Jenifer, who was still developing and not very effective.

damn i thought the days of saying Caupain wasn't a true PG were over. People missed a pretty good career I think.

Troy was a very good player but it's hard to point to other PG's in college basketball and say he resembles any of them. He was very unique. I know this may sound ridiculous but he was almost a poor man's Magic Johnson. He kept his back to the defender when dribbling and used his size to pass over them. He did not speed up the court...he just controlled the tempo. I am not sure I would call Magic a "true PG" either...but he was damn good at what he did though.

Of the three Cronin-era Point Guards, Deonta Vaughn, Cash Wright, and Caupain, Caupain was the worst in my opinion. Was he a bad player....absolutely not. He was a nice player overall, but forced to play PG because we really didn't have any other great options. Nice solid career. Lots of regular season wins, but 3-4 in conference tourney and 2-4 in the NCAA. If he wasn't doing all the ball-handling, he may have been a better 2-guard and may have shot better. He was certainly a great rebounder for his size, but so-so on defense. The next 4 years should be a big upgrade at that position....hopefully!

i dont know why people can't accept it. caupain is NOT an off the ball player at all and he's not a shooter or a slasher. certainly caupain had limitations as a player but everybody thinking he was out of position and wasn't a real pg missed all the things he did really well and really missed one hell of a career. |
