Lamar Dawson (2011-LB) attended UK's spring football practice today. Hope to have more info later today, but he is a key recruit for the 2011 class. While I expect Dawson to take visits to other schools, in my opinion he is UK's to lose at this point. He has an established relationship with Joker Phillips and Chuck Smith.
**Update** 12:55 pm Dawson tells me the visit went well. The tempo was upbeat and they treated him like family. "I like it up there." http://aaronsukfootballblog.blogspot.com/ |

Nike Combine Overview from Columbus, OH
Lamar Dawson of Danville, Ky. also showed well in coverage. A middle backer type with a strong frame at 6-2/230, Dawson had the ability to control his man off of the initial jam, and he also showed the agility to track back and swat a ball away. He broke down and stopped his man consistently during the open field running drill. http://cincinnati.scout.com/2/967260.html |

From Tharinger (twitter):
4 star LB, Lamar Dawson (Boyle County, KY), tells TR that Michigan and Oregon are his most recent offers. Look for offers to keep rolling in. Dawson also tells TR that he was named LB MVP at this past weekend's Nike Camp in Columbus |

Per Rob Gidel, Lamar Dawson has received an offer from Michigan. Dawson is really close to UK's coaching staff and most feel he is the Cats to lose at this point. Based on my interviews, Dawson isn't in a hurry to make a decision and will likely take his visits next fall.

Quote: Linebackers make their mark Two prospects stood out among the linebackers, one from the Buckeye State and one who traveled north from Kentucky for the camp. As good as Daniels was, Lamar Dawson (Danville, Ky./Boyle County) might have been even better. Dawson measured in at 6-2 and 232 pounds but looked even bigger. He certainly played big. Dawson took on blockers well, was able to track down running backs on the perimeter and made plays in coverage en route to the linebackers MVP award. |

Quote: One of the stars during the Nike Football Training Camp at Ohio State on Saturday was Lamar Dawson (Danville, Ky./Boyle County). The 6-foot-2, 233-pounder was physical, ran well and made plays during the drills. Dawson has been a varsity starter at inside linebacker since his freshman season. "Michigan has offered me," said Dawson, who made over 100 tackles during his junior season. "Oregon offered a couple days ago. And I have Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Texas Tech, Stanford and Western Kentucky. I'm interested in all of them right now." |

- Lamar Dawson, the LB MVP of the OSU nike camp has named a top five, which unfortunately doesn't include Michigan. Florida, Alabama, USC, Notre Dame and Kentucky made the list, Michigan will need to get him on campus for an unofficial soon if they want to be in the race here. Looks like UC is pretty much done here. |
