Western Carolina
On to the Next one
Western Carolina Catamounts Nov 13th Game time: Monday 7pm TV: ESPN3 Radio: 700WLW Tickets: Roughly 400+ seats remain @ $20-40 https://www1.ticketmaster.com/uc-mbb...00535EF45A7F09 Scouting Western Carolina: Record: 0-1 Last Game:Loss @Clemson 85-57 Kenpom rank: 267 Off Rank: 309 Def Rank: 186 The Catamounts will be looking to improve on what was their worst season ever in the Kenpom era ( 2001-02 Season). WCU has been a perennial top 250 team for 11 years running until last years young roster pushed them into the very back end of the 300's. Preseason rankings from Kenpom expects them to bounce back though and started them at #260. Returning all 5 starters and nearly every player of value should help WCU get back to being a quality buy game. UC played Western Carolina to open the 2015-16 season and while the Bearcats won by 20, the Catamounts did put up 72. I think they are a year or 2 away from being back in the top 250 and the Bearcats should handle this game fairly easy. Last year, WCU was so young and inexperienced that they didn't do anything particularly well. They were one of the worst offenses in the entire country. Goal for UC should be to keep them well under 60 and themselves put up a 100. Goals for UC: Keep the TO's down keep them under 60 Establish the inside game (way too many 3's last game) Play with smart pace |

WCU plays slower so we should see a much better game defensively from the Cats. However, that does not mean we should not push the pace. If we really are playing faster this year we need to execute against these lower quality teams so we are comfortable doing it against better competition.
Think we see a "better" overall game. Quick outlet passes, limit turnovers, less 3s and higher %, stifling defense. I think WCU scores .80-.85 PPP but there won't be 92 possessions. Cats - 94 Catamounts - 62 |
