Jim valvano and north Carolina State perfected this back in the day. They would start fouling with 3 or 4 minutes left in game. Did this to perfection on there way to the national title. I think they trailed by nine on average in every game leading to the national title.

Look at that, they spread the floor, get the ball in low, and pick up a foul - free throws please! What a novel idea... plus they ate up an extra 10 seconds!
