Gates doesn't get enough credit. He was pretty damn good.

100% agree Jakob.four year stater averaged double figures all four years. Been to a big east championship, sweet 16 bearcat fans take his career for granted. He was very good for us in his four years and when mick said ellis might be the best big he's coached not named kenyon I thought that was very insulting. On a side note yancy has been doing very well overseas

Gates was great, Mick was never able to get the most out of him because of the style of basketball Mick played. He couldn't develop a big like Yancy to become the dominating post presence he should have been.

Agreed. But when Yancy came back, the way he played from February til the end was a thing of beauty to watch. It's like the light went off for him. I'll never forget the way he dominated Georgetown in the BE tourney. It was bitter sweet bc I was like, where has that been. It just clicked for him a little too late.

Yancy was a motivational problem as far back as High School. Nice Kid but not a hard worker It wasn't Mick's offense that hindered him it was his work habits. His late night Pizza's were a issue. If anything Micks slow down offense was built for Yancy. Yancy never struck me as a player that enjoyed running up and down the floor.

That steal in the gtown game when he threw it to cash then right back for the lob dunk was one of my greatest memories. Also that reverse dunk he had on Texas I loved . It would be great to see that sweet 16 game against osu had yancy not picked up the 4th foul with like ten left, imo we would have pulled it out and been in the elite 8, but without yancy we had no stop for sullinger down the stretch

Here's a video of yancy overseas there's a lot of highlights out there

Still think this guy is skilled and athletic enough to be on an nba bench. Think he's averaging around 25ish ppg over there

Bill coch from go Bearcats is releasing his top ten players in cronin era. Released number ten today and it was john Williamson. Loved j-will. I'll continue to update as he releases them
