Best of luck to the kid at OU. The staff got a chance to see him up close and personal at both his high school where he worked out for them and at UC's camp. Apparently he just didn't quite have what it takes to play at this level. I hope he has a great career at OU, though. He really wanted to be a bearcat so I'll be rooting for him.

Russell, who is 6 feet 2 and 228 pounds, also had offers from Bowling Green, Air Force, Toledo, Minnesota, Kent State, Buffalo, Akron and Ball State.

"I think he definitely felt really wanted by the Ohio University staff," Commins said. "He definitely likes the campus and the environment there."

Russell, who will be a senior this fall, was first-team all-Greater Miami Conference in 2009. He led the Highlanders in tackles and tackles for loss last season.
