Many years we didn't have a great team and we scheduled accordingly and we made the tourney and many times were right on the bubble.

The scheduling has been about perfect for most years IMO and I think adding some strength this year is a good idea.

Last year was a down year for a couple AAC teams and that hurt our seeding. We may lose more games than last year but we could end up better in metrics because of the SOS. Committee is placing more emphasis on metrics this year. Top 50 wins will probably always be important.
If we get a 6 seed by winning 30 games or a 6 seed by winning 27 games with a better SOS I think we will be more prepared for the dance with the tougher schedule.

We are a preseason top 15 team. WE should be able to compete with any team. Will we lose some yes. We lost to ucla last year but we were in the game. They were better than us. It happens. That's sports. Can't be scared to play good teams. I've never heard of that kind of thinking.

I'd take a win over UCLA and loss to Wichita State all day every day over two wins against Samford and Lipscomb.

You assume that every game we play against better competition is going to be a loss, that's absurd.

Agree, Wins like lipscomb and samford do nothing for me or the team. You don't grow from beating a team by 50. It my be good for your younger guys to get minutes but that's about it.
It is absurd to assume we will lose every game against a decent team when we are a top 15-20 team

not to mention. Beating a team like Samford by 50 actually hurts your RPI more than losing to a team like UCLA.

We suck on the road and this year all those hard games are on the road there for more than half will be losses.

Did you even read coachpipe's post? Even if we were to lose them all (not gonna happen), it looks better on your resume to lose @ UCLA than win at home vs Fairleigh Dickinson, even if it's by 70. You literally cannot argue that. It is factually incorrect.

If he would rather be 35-0 and beat everyone by 30-50, than play good teams and maybe lose 8 games, there is nothing we can say. if I want to be the best team in the country, or considered a top program, I want to play other great teams and see if I can beat them. If not, what are we even playing for. If we lose, who cares. It doesn't hurt us at all

Last year we lost on the road in conference to SMU and UCF and we won all home games. I could see another season with 2 losses on the road in conference while winning all home games. We could beat either of those teams but we could also lose another.

So then we have X and UCLA on the road. We could win 1 of those. They aren't so highly ranked.

We potentially have Florida neutral. Let's call it a loss. I assume we can beat Iowa and Ms ST.

I just don't see the loss column adding up much more this year than last year. Maybe a couple games difference. We will be a better team this year IMO. If our SOS is better and we have only 2 more regular season losses...we may be in a similar seed with better preparation heading to the dance.

I just don't see 8-9 losses when we only had 4 last year. The only caveat is our home games won't have the same advantage so maybe we lose 1 home game. I could see 6-7 losses but not 8-9.
