Player Development for 2018-2019 Season
Whose offseason development is most critical to team success in 2018-2019?
Off the bat, I'm going to say Tre Scott. Of our returning big men, he is the most versatile, most offensively competent, and the one who I feel is best suited to maintain their overall efficiency with an increase in playing time next season. If he can give us 7-8 ppg and 6-7 rpg over 20-25 mpg, I think that would provide a good compliment to our experienced backcourt. What are your thoughts? |

Cronin needs to let Diarra play and take and make shots.
He'll get screamed at and yanked anytime he screws up though. So I worry about his development. He's simply not going to be allowed to play the way he is. He must become like the other players who have fallen short if he wants to be part of the team. I'd transfer if I was in his position. His pro prospects take a massive hit playing in our style. But if he's allowed to actually play (again he won't be), he could be a big factor for us offensively. |

Actually we had one NBA prospect on the team and Cronin had the ball in his hands more then any other player. If you take that approach with him and live with his mistakes do you take that approach with everyone? Where do you draw the accountability line? |

I unfortunately see Diarra being the next Ibrahima Thonas. Cronin will just berate him and scream his head off at him for his whole career and he won't become the player he could be bc of it.

Jake I get the feeling your under the impression the kids don’t like Cronin. I have never seen a morale problem from the Cats. We have had a couple transfer but overall the kids speak glowingly of the coach.

I think the expectation should be for him to slowly build himself into a starter by the 20-21 season - after Scott and Brooks graduate. Yeah, if he ended up at a place like UConn he'd likely get a lot more PT over the next few seasons, but he'd in a much less stable situation, and one that ultimately might not be the best for him as a player. |

If Jake stays we will be solid. If Jake goes, could be a long season.
