FORUM RULES & GUIDELINES

We appreciate the participation of every member on the board as well as potential future members. In an effort to make this site enjoyable for the majority we would like to introduce a more in depth set of guidelines for participation. We understand this is a sports message board and that fans are very passionate about our team. We want to encourage the passionate banter but discourage inappropriate behavior. Go Bearcats!!

There is a “report” button on every post. Please do not report a post in the thread by commenting publicly. Public demands will not be responded to...only the report button will get a response. Use the MOD button!! We don't need every member to publicly weigh in on questionable posts but WE DO need your help in finding them. Mods cannot always be present or read every post. If a post gets reported by a user it will get reviewed by the mods and compared to the guidelines below (which doesn’t include every scenario obviously). If it doesn’t get reported you can assume it will not be addressed in any way by mods. Here are some possible outcomes.

Warning: Minor issues will get two warnings before a ban
Mute: You can read but not post
Temporary ban: Length of time will be based on severity of rules you broke
Permanent ban: Lifetime for obvious troll accounts or serious violations

Some rules violations are worse than others. There are things which can get you banned for the first violation…mods have that authority. We understand some of this will be subjective. Bottom line…if we have to review it…there was likely a better way to say it. The following are SOME of the guidelines to keep in mind…

Personal attacks: Debate the content of the post rather than attack the poster. If you are about to use the word “stupid” or “asinine”…don’t. If it gets reported...guess what?
Not using MOD button: Making public demands that a post or poster be banned or warned
Trolling: These are statements which were deemed designed to elicit a negative response
Sources & rumors & teasing:
You must cite sources and make sure rumors are labeled as such. No teasing
Off topic: Try to keep from veering off subject. If you do…please end it quickly
Discrimination: Absolutely no racial, religious, or sexual discrimination
Profane/obscene: This is a public forum which children can view
Bullying: Try not to gang up on members because you disagree with them a lot
Threaten to leave: Do not threaten to leave “unless something is done”
Illegal activity: Obvious
Bumping/cross posting: Just post your thoughts. Don’t double post same thing or bump thread
Abusing mods: Mods don’t want to police the boards. Stay off their case. Don't make demands...just use the report function and it will be voted on
Ads or Promos: Do not post ads or promos for personal gain
Insulting players or coaches: Be respectful…even if you want to be critical of them
Excessive reporting of posts: don’t be that guy/girl because you have a vendetta
Private info: Do not post private information about another person on this board

This is a public site so the material should be suitable for at least a PG-13 rating. Some fans want less moderating and some want more. These rules are here so that the community can do most of the moderating while the mods just vote. These rules and guidelines can change or be added to and are not an exhaustive list of violations. It’s OK to disagree passionately about something but If you can’t say what you are about to say in a moderately respectful way then you probably don’t need to say it. Think about your wording and how to get the point across without inciting an argument or negative response. Use evidence instead of insults.

“That’s just stupid” can be replaced with “I disagree with your point and here is why”.

“So and so isn’t good enough to play HS girls BB” can be replaced with “So and so is not ready for high level D1 BB”

“Xavier girls are ugly” can be replaced with…well with…uhh…...
