How do "visits" work ?

Can someone who perhaps has been involved in Official and Unofficial recruiting visits work ? How many days do they take ? Do parents come with the recruit ? Do they interact with current players ? What's the difference between official and unofficial ?

Perhaps somebody who has been thru this can take us thru the visit from arrival at the airport to the eventual departure from the airport ? Might be intesting to know whats involved.

Only ever took an unofficial visit and it was for a different sport. Met the coaches, saw the facilities, locker rooms etc. Took about an hour or two with the tour and different conversations with the coaches.
My parents were with me during the time. It was over the summer and I don't recall meeting anyone on the team when I was there.

While on the team we had people in for official visits. They actually stayed with people who were on the team and some would stay for a couple days. The parents didn't always come on these visits. One time we got reprimanded because the kid went home and told his parents we took him to a party...Most recruits liked that part.
They would be with the coaches throughout the day and then would come to practice and hangout with the team, observe what practice was like with everyone, and then go with whoever on the team they were staying with. Typically we had them stay at places where more than one person on the team was living.

On the official visits the schools would pay for food and tickets to games stuff like that not much really. I could only take them once I was Junior and the limit was 5 visits at least for hoops but I assume its all the same.Unofficial you could take as many as you wanted but had to pay yourself when you could afford them. Only happened once myself me and my cousin went on a visit to Depaul.
