McGary isn't the flashiest guy around and he's not going to wow you in any one area. However, he has something that high majors covet and that's legit size and strength for a low post player. At 6-foot-9 and at least 235 pounds, he's a strong kid who gets up and down the floor, controls his area of the glass and can do some scoring from eight feet and in.

Chesterton junior Mitch McGary was candid about academic difficulties that have kept some programs at a distance in his recruitment.
"I've been working on my grades," said the 6-10 McGary, "because that's why a lot of schools weren't looking at me. I have to keep working to get up my marks so I can get into school."
He played only 10 games this season due to a broken left foot and mononucleosis. His only standing offer is from Purdue, although he said Cincinnati, Dayton, Indiana and Xavier are also recruiting him.

If he has grades issues, don't see how Xavier fits in. I was under the impression they are sticklers.

Mitch reminds me of Justin Jackson from the standpoint that he knows his game and plays within it. He understands where his strength is. He is a rebounder and low post force. I really like this young man and see him being a solid 4 year performer in college. He has a college ready body already.

The SYF Players came home with the 17-and under title, and Mitch McGary was the biggest reason why. The 6-foot-9 big man was absolutely on fire from three, but at nearly 230 pounds he didn't just hang out on the perimeter. McGary rebounded very well, finished with athleticism around the rim, and showed an ability to turn and face and take his man off the dribble. Overall McGary was one of the premier players at the event.

But in the final it was Chesterton's Mitch McGary who dominated

McGary's buddy is getting noticed...due to him.

Jeremy Werner caught up with Peoria Notre Dame forward Max Bielfeldt earlier this week.

Playing with high-major talents like Branden Dawson and Mitch McGary has brought more attention to the PND standout.

"Penn State just sent me a letter too so that's pretty big, another Big Ten school," Bielfeldt said. "Colorado sent me a letter. Those are just some I can add to the list. It's going really well. Western Michigan has probably shown the most interest, then Ball State's up there too. That'd probably be the top two right now. Everyone else is kind of just mixed in there. Colorado State also is showing a lot of interest.

"I think I'm going to take an unofficial up to Western Michigan up in June. I'm going to go check that out because they've been talking to me for a while. I thought I'd check it out to see if I like it or not."

Missed a good portion of his junior season with a foot injury but has proved his worth on the AAU scene.

I have to disagree with this part of your analysis I have seen him play many times and would say that he would much rather play on the perimeter. I am not saying he won't play in the post but he would much rather shoot a three or try and take another big man off the dribble.
