The shot was not emphasized or strategized at that point. The Big man and the (lost art) mid range shot ruled the day. I'm sure the number of 3's taken then is miniscule compared to the amount taken...

I remember his McDonalds All American recruit Roger McClendon could shoot the lights out ! Too bad the 3 point shot wasn't emphasized then like today. He was deadly from deep.
