because of his natural size- he has great potential. he has decent mobility for his size- he isn't an oaf. but having seen him in person, he does not put forth a lot of consistent effort. i think over the past few years with yancy, i dont think many fans have a lot of patience for a guys who are blessed with great size but with whom we have to worry every game if they are going to "bring it."

i would have been happy to get AJ, but i am not sweating losing him. i just wish we had more backups in mind because Obekpa seems to be an uphill battle. he is a guy who i think really fits our system and would be much more disappointed if we miss out on.
your last paragraph is what concerns me. Again, not saying he was a world beater but he was the best player that UC had a good chance at. Hence one reason why Mick was going so hard after him.

On the good side UC will return Moog, Gaines, Ellis (who physically already looks better), and Jackson. Gaines will be better prepared to contribute next season. Moog will be another year in and Jackson will be in year 3. Ellis will add a dimension to the team with his shooting and length with another year of strength training and physical maturity. I believe they'll be ok. Add a guy that can contribute year two your ok. True centers are hard to find. That was the gem in Hammons.
