'12 OH PF Malik London

Power forward
Chillicothe, Ohio
Chillicothe
AAU: All-Ohio Red
Ht:6'7"
Wt:185 lbs
Class:2012 (High School)

This young man has a 7' wingspan and is considered one of the best shotblockers in his class. He is very good defensively, but raw offensively. He does have a face up game out to about the foul line. He uses his quickness, length, and athleticism to rebound. He has a tremendous amount of potential but needs to add strength and weight over the next two seasons to be effective in high major conferences on the D1 level.

Good short Interview with Malik. Says UC isn't currently high on his list but also adds:

"...Yes, I talked with Cincinnati’s coach (Coach Mick Cronin) not too long ago..."

If Cronin is personally speaking with him, he likes him.

Junior big Malik London (9.0 ppg.) is another kid with a bundle of talent. London is one of if not the best shot blockers in Ohio. He has the rare ability to time shots and swat the ball away in the air. If he is in the paint, nothing is safe. London’s offensive game has improved immensely, so for him to score 12 to 15 points per game this season is essential.

I love having an eraser on the team. And if Mick wants to press with Jackson at the point, it would be ridiculous to have a guy at the back that can erase any mistakes. Such a luxury.

Gaines will be a shot blocker. "Potentially" the best UC has had since Kenyon.

I highly doubt he will be better than Maxiell or Hicks. That being said, if he is even close to those two I will be more than happy.

Gaines has the physical tools to surpass them both (as a shot blocker). It will depend upon how he develops. Long career ahead of him and very excited to watch it unfold.
