Though injured, D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera says his offered list has expanded recently. Miami, Wake Forest, and Ohio State have joined Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Purdue, Xavier, and Tennessee on his offer list.

Verbal to Xavier. XU got in early and developed a nice relationship with him and his family. He has liked XU for a while now but I'm surprised he didn't decide to go to a bigger school, as he had some pretty good offers.

There's over a year to go before signing date. If Xavier holds unto him it's very nice pick up, but a lot can happen in 13 months with early commits. We've all seen that.

X also picks up a verbal from Michael Chandler.

Hate to say it, but Mack is making Mick look pretty bad on the recruiting trail.

Wait a minute. You're serious, right? We are talking about 2012. I don't care who verbals 13 months out. Things change over night in recruiting. What Mack is doing at XU has zero impact on what Mick will do at UC for 2012. Last time I checked, Mick has done a phenominal job with the 2011 class and may land another top 150 guy in Jeremiah Davis. I am not even concerned with 2012 until 2011 is done and signed. If 2011 ia any indication, 2012 will be just as good if not better. We don't even know if these guys were Mick's top targets. Considering the emphasis put on the East Coast, I am guessing neither one of these guys were too high on the wish list.

Edit: Don't misread what I am saying about Smith-Rivera. I am sure Mick would have been more than happy to have him. That said, I think Mick's top targets have to be big guys. With all the guards/wings he brought in for 2011, I doubt UC looked very attractive. That is why I don't think he was a top target for Mick.

Not really, the 2011 classes are pretty comparable at this point. It's just that X is no longer recruiting at a "mid-major" level. They are a top 25 program now, no doubt about it.

And not to veer too much more off topic, but:

Can't say I feel any sympathy for them, considering the injuries to Mike Williams and Cashmere Wright the past few years... let them see what it's like to lose a key cog right before the season's about to start.

I never said it had a impact on UC or what Mick is doing. I also don't think Mick has done a " phenominal" job on this class. Not with how many open scholly he has. What UK and other schools are doing is phenominal. Mick has a solid class but nothing jaw droping. As you said, it's not done and has a chance to be better, but right now it's not phenominal.

Your right things can change over night in recruting. But I don't think it will. I look for Chandler to reclassify to 2012 due to grades and come in with Smith-Rivera in 2012. That's a solid class right there, then who ever they add on to it. The scary part is that it's been said that Rodney Purvis wanted to play with Chandler. If X adds him in 2013 then look out. That would be a very dangerous team.

I guess I would take Mack's recruiting over what Mick has done this last year. But that's just me.
