When I watch Mama he sets the screen but rolls before he actually makes contact for the screen so it doesn't really do anything to get anyone open because he is looking for the ball immediately whereas Tre and Nas know there job is to set screens to get the guards open.
There must be some serious issues with how Diara plays within the system. There is little doubt he can provide offense, rebounding, blocks, and shooting. There is some serious ability there and I hope he gets the rest of it figured out quick for his sake and ours.

It's a waste of talent to have him riding pine. Coach has to find a way to get in his head. It's one thing to tell a player what is required and it's another thing to get that out of the player if they aren't "catching on".

He should be one of the best defenders on the team with his length and athleticism. Add in his scoring pop and he should be one of the most versatile guys we have. It's somewhat of a mystery...but we know it's not his ability keeping him out so it's gotta be an x's an o's thing and it must be significant.

I agree with that. I don't think Mama really has a position, he is just an athlete who is playing basketball. He is to big and doesn't have the ball skills to be a tall guard and he's not physical enough to play down in the post. With Tre and Nas what you see is what you get, you know they are going to set screens, contest shots, be physical down low and try and block shots and if they are scoring that is just a bonus. With Mama I feel like he can play in the post and be a great defender with his length but he wants to be a guard. He wants to score points and make the big plays when IMO he doesn't have those skills yet where as Tre, Nas and Eli are cool with doing the dirty work.

True as this may be, I don't think Mama is in a spot to take minutes away from Scott or Brooks. The available minutes should come from Nsoseme, who has just been an absolute disaster for a while now. Diarra doesn't have a really huge bar to clear to outplay him.
