You make my point... Pre season ranks are lame and should not exist. As for recruiting purposes... The way to gain a recruiting edge is by winning, especially your conf tourney and in March. (unless your coach cal and you have tv shows, deep pockets of cash and the world wide wes)

Sure, rankings in the preseason should not exist, but they do. They mostly exist for TV to garner up buzz for games early in the year. It's not going anywhere so since you can't fight for that, you might as well fight for respect.
