Linden Tigers (22-8)
Quadri Moore 2014 PF The 2013 Linden Tigers were last season’s dark horse of the New Jersey high school basketball scene, however 2014 is looking a little different. The reigning North 2 Group IV champs return four starters, most notably Cincinnati commit Quadri Moore. The 6-8 Moore is one of the most versatile big men in the country. “What makes Quadri so hard to cover is his ability to do anything on the court,” said 16th-year head coach Phil Colicchio. “Against a big guy, he can go outside with his perimeter game, but he can also beat a smaller defender inside with his size.” ESPN.com rates Moore as the 28th-best center in the nation and the Garden State’s 3rd-best recruit behind Sports U teammates, St. Joseph’s seniors Karl Towns (Kentucky) and Wade Baldwin (Vanderbilt). The Bearcats have shown interest in Moore since the second game of his freshman season at Linden. Moore’s decision was between Cincinnati and Seton Hall, but the four-star recruit also had offers from Wake Forest and Miami (FL). “I always liked their program,” said Moore. “Through the whole process, I just felt comfortable with them and how Coach (Mick) Cronin runs the team.” A Union County team, Linden is tasked with one of the state’s toughest schedules, including home and away matchups with Roselle Catholic, The Patrick School, and Plainfield. In addition, the Tigers have a strong out of conference schedule including a meeting with Newark Tech at the Hoop Group Tipoff Classic and a holiday tournament in Charleston, North Carolina. This group however has the experience to be ready for the challenge. One of the strengths for Linden this season will be their continuity. The only starter Linden is losing is Terrell Bagley. Along with Moore, William Sessons, Josh Carter, and Juwan Jones all return for the 2014 campaign. “Experience is the best teacher, and these guys have been together for a long time,” said Colicchio. “The chemistry is there, they grew up playing together and last season was great for us to grow us as a team.” That experience will be key for the Tigers in 2014. “After winning the section last year, we are going to have a target on our back the whole season,” said Moore. “But with almost everyone back, I think we can do it again and take the county this year.” - See more at: http://blogs.mycentraljersey.com/int....UUA3FS84.dpuf http://blogs.mycentraljersey.com/int...-quadri-moore/ |
