Not saying you can't have a opinion. Only saying that there may be other factors that are not available to the general public driving some decisions. Example: Was at a game last year when he subbed for a particular player. It was Washington. The overall conclusion was he should not have taken him out. What was missed by many was that Washington signaled to the bench to come out. Its the same with game planning. If I have instructed a player multiple times on a tendency shown by the opposition and he continually fails to execute defensively what we spent much time on he is coming out of the game. These are things the general public has little to know knowledge of. My point is we are quick to point out what we think is obvious but in many instances it isn't.

I agree with you there is a tendency among some fans to automatically file bench time under the same reason each time. There are many reasons to get benched. We know the main ones but as you said...a player asking for a breather is one of them. Defense and turnovers can do it. So can not executing the game plan that was coached in practice. Failure to box out. Dogging it. Missing assignments. game situations. taking bad shots. etc etc etc.
