My guess is that the overall Non conference schedule will be better but in regards to home non conference you won't see too much improvement. Yes, I know, they have X at home this year.

At Marshall, X, Vegas vs Iowa State and either Oregon/UNLV. BE/SEC at home but do not know who yet. Also working on another BCS home game. This all according to Mick on his radio show.

Agreed. It has been said that we are in the Las Vegas Invitational field for next season which pretty much instantly makes our OOC schedule ranked higher than last season. However, if you are looking for a marquee big game at home (besides X), probably not going to happen because of money.

The Vegas field should help a lot. If we can trade some of those 300+ RPI teams with 100-150 RPI we'll be in good shape. That being said, there seems to several factors (money, ESPN, home & home arrangements) that make this process difficult.

I doubt they will give us UK in the BE/SEC challenge. Vandy, Florida, or Tenn would be my choices.

In Vegas Thanksgiving Weekend: vs Iowa State (Fri) and vs Oregon/UNLV
Neutral Site (@Charleston): vs Marshall
Home Games: Xavier, Wright State, SEC Challenge, hopefully another BCS school

What was wrong with this year's schedule? It got UC into the NCAA tourney.

Ralph sometimes I wish you wouldn't even post or think before you do. A month ago you were bashing the schedule and UC's rpi because of it. Just stop.

Next year we might actually want some 'cupcake' games to help gel our frontcourt. As far as I can tell we have 2 starting spots up for grabs - particularly big men.

But yes, 100-150 RPI teams are preferred to 300+ RPI teams.

We should set up an annual 3-way tournament with Dayton and Xavier (each team plays the other two). Both games would be significant improvements over Presbyterian, Jacksonville State or Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The team with the best record in both games takes the title and is that year's Ohio Champion. Each team gets a guaranteed home game against a decent OOC team and then a road game. (If it works out, OSU may then consider playing us).

Just realized that Xavier and Dayton probably can't do this as proposed (early part of season) since they are in the same conference, but this would definitely be a benefit to all 3 teams, IMO. XU already plays UC and UD, so we should play UD and XU. Just saying.

I never bashed the schedule of this year. I stated that because at the time their RPI was in the 70's they would have to win 3 out of the last 4 games and 2 games in the Big East Tourney to get in the NCAA. They did exactly what I stated they needed to do and got in the NCAA.

UC's NCAA tourney chances will always be decided by how they do in the Big East, not who they play in non conference. Seton Hall prime example this season, great non conference RPI and SOS, faltered in the Big East, went to the NIT.
