Time and time again, we see that high level recruiting matters in the tourney.

I just don’t get why the school a few miles away can get 4 star after 4 star.

Why can’t we ?

I have high expectations for recruiting. A bunch of 3 stars is not what I’m expecting.

Especially with sooo much time available to play

The big East name is the biggest reason. It’s hard to get those guys within 6 months of taking a job. You have to recruit those guys for years. I didn’t expect him to come in and it start raining 4 stars.

Eason would be big. I also expect better recruiting but I like 3 star top 150 guys. Those guys turn into 4-5 stars over time. Just can’t have the misses like we have had in the past.

At XU, which is already a super small school, basketball is the only major sport so those kids literally walk around like Gods those 4 years they're there. At UC and other bigger schools that have football programs that's not the case. A lot of students don't even know who they are or assume they're on the bball team because they're really tall.

That actually makes a big difference for high school kids.

Xu had been slowly building up to better recruits. Every hire they made was from the system so there were always the same targets. Plus they've made multiple ncaa tournament runs, and lets face it, that helps recruiting.

This didn't just start recently. Since 2010 (just quick look at 247 sports)

4-stars

Xavier - 20 signed

Cincinnati - 7 signed (plus 5 star Lawrence)

xavier is getting 2 a year on average and we get less than 1 a year on average.

Winning in general helps a lot but winning in the tourney is a big part of it. One of the reasons Huggins was able to get that thing rolling. Gonzaga. I’ve always said we can get better players than we have been getting but you have to win. Not just regular season games. No one really cares about those.

Gabe has major offers. But we had sign his low major brother to get him. We were the only school willing to take both on his major offer list

But his brother has a low major offer list.

Mikey Saunders is mid major offer list as well.

MAW is a high major player. I’m certain of that

But I’m not even close to sold on Davenport

The big one for me will be Tari Eason. We land him and keep Zach Harvey then it’s a good foundation

With Brannon coming into uc late and having to fill a roster for students leaving due to a coaching change, I don’t think Brannen did a horrible job at all. There were no point guards on the roster, I do not blame him for bringing in Davenport to fill a void at the last minute. The pool to get players for this year was very small and I was impressed he got the kids he did that late in the game to make up a roster. He gathered a team the best he could, now he’s trying to actually run an offense, not just pass around then iso. It will take time to get everyone on the same page.

What’s up with all the ads on this site, is this a college basketball thread or a porn site?

To me it’s both.

But I use ghostry on my Mac to block ads and then use purify on my iPhone.

I haven’t seen an ad in years. And while I don’t mind financially supporting a site, I absolutely hate when ads become so bad that it kills the content
