I for one had plenty of disparaging words to say about the loss, but it's more constructive criticism/concern rather than any sort of bashing. This team is very talented and has a chance to have a great season. I chalk up at Xavier to just fate that we are doomed when we play them. I say that jokingly, but not really.... The Florida game was ugly and Thursday was uglier. Sure every team has an off night shooting and maybe even focus-wise. Maybe that's all it was. Temple knows how to make it an ugly game against us. I'd love to see us take a different approach vs. them, but that's a separate issue. My main concern is how bad we can look at times. No this isn't a perfect roster, but you can't make a run in March when you can't bring a consistent effort night in, night out. Truth be told it's one game and it was a win so we'll forget about it once another game is played. Thursday night's effort might just be (and hopefully is) our worst performance of the season. I'm moving forward because this team has plenty of games to play and I still think they have plenty of room to improve and figure out exactly their potential. Let's hope they do.
As far as in game threads go, we used to open up a separate thread for the nonsensical things posters like to post during games. Maybe we need to go back to that and then close the thread after the game is over. It is amazing to me that some posters only show up literally during losses. But they're obviously fans watching the games that need an outlet. My suggestion is just don't pay them or their comments any mind. They'll disappear as soon as the game is over anyways. Just my two cents |

I can't say I've seen anyone "spend several hours a week" bashing a player. And all this garbage about people only posting during bad games / losses, not sure who does that either. I didn't post a thing during our two losses. This was just an especially bad game. People got ticked, get over it.

My fear in this, and this is my realist/part pessimistic side -- basically the success of our season for many many fans and nationwide basically rides on one game the second weekend of March, assuming we win the first game. Cause bottom line if we don't go sweet sixteen this year, it will be a failure. So everything building up to that is prep work for a 40 minute game where we have no control of who we play. Last year a great season was rewarded by getting to play realistically probably a top five team from last year in that game. That wasn't fair to that team plain and simple. Us fans will whine about the schedule or losing a game we shouldn't have, but every team loses games they shouldn't. I can look at yesterday alone and give you many examples. And I can all but guarantee the duketalk.com, xaviertalk.com, Kentuckytalk.coms of the world are blowing up with stupidity like ours does. Its why were fans. At least we're passionate. But I do agree that guys that never post and literally call players names is uncalled for and not what us regular/everyday fans and posters want to read and put up with. We're frustrated too by a lousy game. I seriously wanted to throw a brick through my TV when the feed went out. I go to bed at 8 during the week for work. I stayed up four hours late, knowing I'd get no sleep to watch MY team play. Yes, MY team. I live and breathe it. It's my hobby and I live and die with the team. So when the stupid feed goes out and the stupid announcers can't even give play by play, I was one grumpy mofo. But back to my point, everyone is frustrated, but we don't want to read nonsense and guys come out of the woodwork to pounce on the team when it's down and dog the players. I seriously wonder how and why and if they are really fans. If you don't like the coach and don't like the players....WHY ARE YOU WATCHING?? Anyways, off my soap box. Big game tonight, I'll be ten rows up in the corner as always cheering and yelling while everyone around me sits on their hands waiting to boo a foul. |

Been posting along time on Bearcattalk. Think the moderators do a very good job providing a forum for folks to discuss the Cats. With that goes the truth that sites like this provide a opportunity for some people to hide behind their key board and disrupt the community. They also attempt to promote certain agendas. I have seen it go well beyond offering a opinion on the game or season. If people want to comment on the performance of a player that in my opinion is fair game but to personally attack the individual should not be tolerated.
