Looks like the senior SF on URI matching up against Evans was the A10 Defensive Player of the Year last year. He also averages 13.5 ppg and 10 rebs. E.C. Matthews is a 6'5 guard like Caupain and averages 21.5 ppg. These 2 match ups should be key. I like our size and athleticism more. Hopefully they don't make 3s all night on us...

hey guys, here's a scouting report on us. 2014-15 is a much better gauge of this team than 2015-16. We lost 2 1st team all conference players. EC Matthews tore his ACL 10 min into the season and Hassan Martin played through leg injuries all year.

First off, defense is the calling card of the team under Hurley. Last time we had our top players healthy (2014-15) we finished 5th in the country in defensive efficiency, 2nd in both 3pt % against and 3pt allowed and 11th in blocks per game.

Expect little to no zone. We play a very aggressive and physical man to man. And will press to varying degrees of intensity.

individually, watch for Hassan Martin. He is listed at 6'8, but has a 7'2 wingspan and 38" vertical. He is flat out a force down low.

Overall the entire team is extremely athletic. A lot of length and quickness. On offense, the gameplan is slash and drive. Primarily, EC Matthews, Jared Terrell and Jarvis Garrett can get in the lane at will. Garrett is the typical fast/short PG, EC is just smooth and Terrell is a bull in a china shop. They drive to finish, but will kick to open shooters as well.

The style of play on both ends is to just keep coming at you in waves with non stop pressure.

starters and key subs:

EC Matthews: Our best player, by far. Effortless offensive game, can score any way he needs to. Slashing, spot up, but he's at his best finishing in transition. There's a reason he was projected as a mid 1st rounder before last year

Hassan Martin: The defensive star. He will get points from being a bull on the boards and has good finish around the key. You will notice him on the defensive end.

Jared Terrell: Similar to EC. He is the 2nd best option on offense. Can shoot from deep, but primary game is driving the lane. Physically he's a load for guards and takes full advantage of that.

Jarvis Garrett: Very good floor general. Primarily looks to be the table setter, but can and will shoot if left alone. Very good at feeding people easy shots.

Kuran Iverson: He's a 4 that can play like a 3. Decent outside shot, but is better at driving and finishing. He can disappear for stretches, and can take over for stretches. Inconsistent is the word.

Stanford Robinson: Indiana transfer, easily our best on ball defender. Lightning quick hands, will be a headache for whoever he is on. Offensively, not a big contributor. Points from him are a bonus currently.

Christion Thompson/Nikola Akele: You'll feel like you have double vision. They look and play very similar games. Both are long, athletic 2/3 hybrids. They can drive, but feast on spotting up from mid to long range.

I want to see a match up of Kennard vs Cumberland. Chad can tell you that the Kennard family did not like UC and you know Cumberland knows that. Would love to see a break out game for JC. Have to get past RI first.

I think we got Morman and stopped recruiting Terrell. Not positive on that.

I went back to old recruiting thread 2014 for Terrell, there were 24 pages on him so it would seem we had some good interest in him. Unfortunate we missed out, I've been you tubing videos of him and he is a gamer. Great looking mid range game and good size.
