Bob Huggins was the guest on Pardon My Take today and he said the Bearcats would have won it all if K Mart never got hurt.

Here is a link to the quote and the podcast - https://puplist.com/2017/05/22/bob-h...ever-got-hurt/

Yup. No brainer. That team was head and shoulders above the next best team in college that year. They had everything including the intangibles needed to win it all. That was my freshman year at UC. What a kick to the nuts.

Yup. That one hurt the most though because it was so obvious how much better they were than everyone else. Oh well. What can you do?

Would've been one hell of a final vs. MSU

There was nobody that could check Kenyon that year. He was a match-up nightmare for anyone.

Who knows if we win it but we were the best team and if we do win it, Huggins probably never leaves, we get oj mayo, bill walker, and Beasley a couple years later and it keeps rolling. One of the biggest "what ifs" in Cincinnati

Crazy to think about that. I know it does no good to dwell in the past... but let's say Kenyon doesn't get hurt and we win that championship. Maybe we pick up a couple blue chipper guys in the early-mid 2000's we wouldn't have had otherwise in addition to Mayo, Walker, and Beasley. Maybe he wins another championship and gets a couple more Final Four appearances -- not unrealistic considering how well he has done at West Virginia with good, but not elite talent. You could be looking at a Cincinnati program with something like 4 national championships and 10 Final Four appearances, which would be blue blood worthy. And none of this is meant as a rip on Cronin -- I am happy to have him. It will just always be a shame the way things went down.

Man just stop (kidding). You're making me cry. We were soooooo close. People like us know it. We lived it. I used to go to practice all the time. It was soooo much fun. Pete Michael was a stud and had intangibles. I could go on and on
