Two running backs from Michigan who improved their stock at the camp were Inkster‘s Da’shawn Bell and Flint Northern’s Thomas Rawls. The running back group was one of the most talented positions at the event, but both the 5-9, 175-pound Bell and 5-10, 214-pound Rawls were in the upper tier of competitors. Rawls has already received an offer from Central Michigan, while Bell is receiving strong interest from Ole Miss.

Rawls adds UC to list

Flint (Mich.) Northern running back Thomas Rawls may be one of the best kept secrets in the state of Michigan this year, but teams are starting to find the 5-10, 215-pound back during the Spring Evaluation Period. On Tuesday Rawls added his second offer of the process from Cincinnati.
"I was coming back from the gym and the assistant head coach, Coach [Steve] Stripling, called me," Rawls reported. "We talked and he was telling me some stuff about Cincinnati and that they are very interested in me. That's when he told me he wanted to offer me a full-ride scholarship. He told me to be looking for the scholarship in the mail soon.

"He was talking about my grades because my freshman year I had struggled. My tenth grade year I improved and now I am [much] improved, so they took that into consideration. They saw that I can be a hard working student and a hard working athlete."

Prior to receiving the offer, Rawls did not have extensive contact with Cincinnati, but he was immediately intrigued by the offer and impressed with what he has learned about the school.

"I was shocked and would have never known that they were going to offer me right now," Rawls said. "One thing he said that really stood out to me is that they graduate 98 percent of their student-athletes. There's been some changes in coaches, but they have been having success down there."

Rawls picked up his first scholarship offer of the process from Central Michigan back in March. Since then, several more schools have started to show interest.

"The last couple weeks coaches have been coming up to the school like Iowa, Cincinnati, CMU and Wisconsin," Rawls said. "This summer, the teams that are showing me interest like Iowa, Wisconsin, CMU and Cincinnati, I will be heading down there to check out the campuses and attend camps. I am heading down for the Michigan Camp too.
Rawls carried 138 times for 1,066 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. He also doubled as a linebacker on defense and tallied 101 total tackles

Nice offer. I was wondering when the offer might occur, as I think UC has a good shot at picking him up.

MI RB Thomas Rawls is serious with his recruitment.

He’ll take an official visit to Central Michigan — the school that first expressed interest — next weekend. Then it’s off to the University of Michigan the following week, with a stop due in Toledo sometime in January. Cincinnati is in the process of setting up a date as well, said Rawls.
