Jaaron is a skilled and savvy point guard. He has a good change of speed which allows him to get in the lane and either finish or dish. He is a good scorer offensively. He has a nice pull up game and can stroke the jumper to 19 feet. Simmons has solid quickness and decent strength which allow him to get to the basket and create his own shot. He is best with the ball in his hands but can play off the ball if needed. Jarron is a solid defender with nice effort and decent technique. He is good on the ball and understands team concepts. As a point guard he needs to show better leadership. He has a good head on his shoulders he just needs to learn to communicate his idea to his teammates and be a coach on the floor. Jaaron is talented and has a great future ahead of him.

To call Simmons purely a UC target is shortsighted. Dayton has taken the lead early and Xavier, Ohio State, and others are also making strides.[/B]

Jaaron Simmons, PG, Alter- The sophomore is a nice-looking young point guard. A wiry 6-footer with a basketball frame and terrific instincts, he makes things go. Pretty quick, under control and tries to make things happen. Sometimes, though, he tries a little too hard and gets out of control. His shot looks pretty good and he will be a fine defender.

Flyin' to the Hoop in Kettering last night:
Simmons starred in his team's loss to Christian Faith Center Academy by scoring a game-high 24 points. The 6-foot Simmons used superior quickness and ball-handling to create midrange looks for himself, where he consistently knocked down shots. When Kettering went to a two-point-guard offense, he was sent to the baseline to go off double-screens, which resulted in him knocking down a trio of three-point shots. He scored over CFC's 6-foot-6 forwards with body control and explosive leaping ability. Simmons also tallied five assists, all coming off dribble penetration and passes out to shooters. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.c...sp?CID=1318467 |

This young man committed to Houston. I post this because I've watched him play and think he'll have a solid career and he's somewhat local. He has a good bb iq and skills. Good luck Jaaron. See you on the court.
