Myles Davis
Myles Davis to Notre Dame Prep
By Adam Zagoria on September 05, 2010, 10:34PM Earlier this summer, Tyrone Johnson and Myles Davis, two of the top guards in New Jersey, openly entertained the idea of playing together at Plainfield High School. Now neither one will. The Villanova-bound Johnson earlier transferred to Montrose Christian, and now Davis has moved to Fitchburg (Mass.) Notre Dame Prep. “Yes, I’m here now,” the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Davis said Sunday by text. It remains unclear if Davis, who runs with the Playaz Basketball Club, will remain in the Class of 2011 or reclassify to 2012. He joins a loaded roster that includes Khem Birch, Angel Nunez, Todd Mayo, the younger brother of NBA guard O.J. Mayo, and Sam Cassell Jr., the son of the former NBA star. Davis averaged 20.1 points last season at St. Peter’s Prep and helped the team win the North Non-Public A and Hudson County titles. He poured in 33 points, including tournament-tying record eight 3-pointers, in an 84-81 victory over nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy at the PrimeTime Shootout in Trenton. Davis said he’s considering numerous colleges, including Xavier, CINCINNATI and Boston College. |

Mentioned in the BJ Young thread that I had heard UC was in the mix for Davis. Glad to see him say it officially. Cincinnati is also recruiting Angel Nunez his new teammate.

Shooting guard
Plainfield, New Jersey St. Peter's Prep AAU: Playaz Ht:6'2" Wt:180 lbs Class:2011 (High School) Strengths: A big time shot maker who can be virtually unstoppable once he gets hot, Davis makes shots in bunches from long range. He is a big game player who thrives when the lights are on the brightest and rises to the occasion down the stretch of games. He has a great understanding of how to use screens, shows a willingness to run his man all over the court to get open, and fires with deep range and a quick release. He can drive close-outs to get into the lane and passes very well off the dribble. He has some stocky strength that he uses to his advantage in order to defend enclosed areas. Weaknesses: When the shots aren't falling Davis doesn't have much impact on the game. He hasn't done enough to develop a mid-range game and also isn't much of a threat to create his own shot off the dribble. He is a little undersized to play off the ball at the next level and lacks much explosiveness with his stocky build. Defensively, he struggles to guard quicker playmakers, especially when pulled farther away from the basket. Bottom Line: Davis is one of the best pure shooters in the class of 2011. At worst he projects as a court spacer and spot-up shooter at the highest level and has the potential to be a major offensive weapon if placed in the right system. http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-coll...%3dmyles-davis |

“It’s Pitt, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, Villanova, Georgetown and anybody else who wants to recruit me,” Davis told NBE’s Matt Whitfield this afternoon via text when asked for the latest list of schools recruiting him. “I am really open right now.”

I have to tell you, I follow recruiting fairly closely and I am amazed at times the players I see Xavier involved with. Especially guards. He is a good shooter. That said he will suffer 4 years of losses to our Cincinnati Bearcats for his foolishness!
