I will say this team plays much more loose and confident when holding a lead and that helps them stay focused on their gameplan. When they got behind vs. X they just melted. I thought they gave good effort vs. New Mexico even though they got behind big early. The NC State game was back and forth as was the Pit game and we seemed tight but still gave good effort. When we built a lead vs. NC State late they settled down and pushed the lead. I like how this team hasn't built a lead and then got comfortable and gave the lead up or let a team back in it. That was a fun game to watch because you could see the Cats really got motivated to crash the glass. Hopefully that is contagious. With that said, I saw absolutely no effort to rebound from Chicago State. Especially when they were on offense. When they took a shot everyone just seemed happy it would either go in or not and turned up court to get on D. I didn't see any players rush in to get in position to rebound after they took shots. No surprise they had zero players grab an offensive rebound (all three of their offensive rebounds were team rebounds). What I did like when we crashed the glass on the offensive side was how many tip-outs we had where guys couldn't grab the rebounds but tipped it out to the guards where we could secure it. I saw this happen numerous times. That's how you know a team is playing good team ball. Again, level of competition, but if you can do the right things vs. lesser competition then at least you know what to do when you play anybody. Execution will be another story and we can be assured that most teams will at least attempt to rebound the ball against us. 69-21 is just unfathomable for a rebounding margin. Enjoy it while you can and get it in your head that you can grab every rebound and go forward with confidence.

Chicago State is a decent team and UC just absolutely annihilated them. That tells you how good UC is and can be.
Again, the offense is fine. Mick has everyone's attention now on that team. We are going to roll in conference play

Chicago State couldn't beat you 5 on 1 (make that 5 on 2 because you'd have Mick on your team). Well maybe with Mick playing the 1 Chicago State would beat you. |

LOL @ Chicago State being a decent team. 2 of their wins are against non-division I teams. Their best win is probably over 4-8 Southern Illinois. They also have wins over powerhouses Jacksonville State and SIU-Edwardsville.
