Miami

Fifth Third Arena

The Bearcats (6-4, KenPom #75) host the Miami Redhawks (4-5, KenPom #283) this Wednesday, which marks the first match-up between these teams in Clifton since 2011.

UC won an ugly 59-58 affair in Oxford last season that saw Miami miss two game-winning attempts in the final seconds.

The Bearcats will see a familiar foe on the Redhawks sideline in first-year head coach Travis Steele. The only key contributor from last year's Miami team who returns is 5th-year 5'8 PG Mekhi Lairy who leads the Redhawks in scoring (15.7 ppg) and assists (3.8 apg).

The Redhawks have featured 6 different starting line-ups through their first 9 games, and as a result, have failed to defeat a D1 opponent ranked in the top 300 of KenPom so far.

The Bearcats have won 14 consecutive games against Miami with the last loss coming in Oxford in 1990.

Miami has a horrible defense, especially guarding the three point line. They are also terrible on the defensive glass. I want to see us work to get to the rim, but chucking threes and going after the rebound will work against this team. The only area where Miami is above average is creating turnovers.

Glad we've taken advantage and have worked to get good shots.

One of the few halves this year where we've played close to our full potential.

Ody and Reed showed their versatility in the first half. Reed can rebound, shoot the three, and handle the ball against the press.

In a game where we put up 103 points, Hensley led the team in ORtg despite scoring only 2 points thanks to 5 assists in 11 minutes.

I see some extra passing creeping into our game and it's working. Hensley made some smart plays. Also the last couple of games MAW is really seeming to settle in. 12 assists to 1 TO. He's facilitating and taking a few shots at going downhill when it presents itself.

Glad to see us fight off any hangover symptoms from the Shootout and produce our best shooting performance of the season so far.

The next two games will provide a slight increase in competition before we open AAC play against a good Tulane team.

Still need to tighten up that D before we hit conference. We can score with the best of them...but we can't do it every night. Wes seems to be trying to light that fire and has been more animated on the sidelines. Hoping that's a good sign.
