CLUTCH
We have had a lot of close games in conference and some we should probably not have won given our deficit late in the game. Somehow we managed to pull out some improbable wins all things considered. According to T-rank...our chances of winning the game (at certain intervals).
UCF...25% with 6:30 remaining Mem...20% with 7:15 Tem...37% with 6:30 Tulsa away...3.3% with 1:00 WSU away...50% with 7:00 Uconn went to OT There have been some other games that got too close for comfort but our odds of winning were still on the plus side. SMU up 1 with 2:20 to play. USF up 2 with 3:15 to play. In all of these games we were either down, tied or less than 2 points up with 7:15 or less on the clock. We lost to ECU and Houston of course but we won these other 8 games. I can't recall another season anything like this since I have been watching UC basketball. |

Especially at home. I go to each home game expecting a win. And while I can get upset and a little nervous during some games, mostly I think that the Cats are always going to straighten things out and pull out a W. |

The outliers for no worry games. Tulane, Tulsa, and this last game. All at home. We have had good reason to worry in all other games with near 85% (or less) of the game having been played already. If you like blowouts...this season is not for you. If you like drama...you are getting your money's worth and then some!! If you like your team to come through in the clutch...it's a dream season. Kenpom calls it the "luck factor". I tend to think the type of players you have determines the outcome of some of that luck. It's probably a combination of luck and clutch play. I am a lot more laid back than I used to be watching games but if we were to go back about 5-10 years I can imagine my TV screen maybe having a beer can lodged in it with champagne dripping over it at the end...LOL! I think the big thing for me is my expectations were lower to start the season so I expected to lose a few more and wasn't as disgusted when we were down against teams we should not have been. To pull those games out was just a bonus. But now I am here with different expectations although I still give the team some leeway to have a bad game. |

I don't know this site you are always pulling from but these are some really interesting posts you're generating. Great job.
I kind of feel after seeing something like this how easy it is to take the Bearcats for granted that they will win as much as they have over the years. We all know they don't recruit a full roster of top 100 guys. The fact that they come through so often is just amazing in many regards. But, I guess that's why the coaches get paid. |
