Letterman Tonight

As Dan Hoard told me on Sports Talk...be sure and watch or record David Letterman tonight.
Dan was at the taping of the show and says there is a strong Cincinnati/UC theme throughout the show...with possible references to a certain announcer that once got ejected from a game.

From last night's game....sure sounds like Chuck.

David Letterman won’t let the nation forget UC radio analyst Chuck Machock’s stupid human trick seven years ago, during the NCAA tournament. Letterman impersonates the University of Cincinnati basketball broadcaster getting thrown out of a 2003 UC-Gonzaga game on his “Late Show” Friday (11:35 p.m., Channels 12, 7).

“He does an impression based on Chuck Machock, the WLW-AM commentator for the UC Bearcats basketball team, when Machock got into an argument with a ref when the Bearcats coach had been tossed out of the game,” says Kim Izzo-Emmet, publicist for the “Late Show with David Letterman.”

The show was taped Monday in New York, when UC play-by-play announcer Dan Hoard was in the audience, she says. During Tuesday’s UC-Rutgers game from Madison Square Garden, Hoard told UC fans to watch Letterman Friday for something special about UC – but he did not elaborate.

Machock was escorted out of a Salt Lake City arena after official Mike Kitts ejected UC coach Bob Huggins during a first-round NCAA tournament game in 2003. Kitts walked to the official scorer’s table and asked that Machock be removed, claiming the color analyst had directed vulgar language at him, according to an Enquirer report at the time.

Machock, a long-time Huggins friend and supporter, denied that he had used profanity before leaving the building.

Late Show with David Letterman was classic last night! Dave poked fun of UC basketball analyst Chuck Machock for being ejected from an NCAA tournament game in 2001. Dan Hoard was in the front row and had mentioned it to Dave in the pre-show Q/A. Dan invited Dave to join him on the UC broadcast during the Big East Tournament in case Chuck was ejected again. Dan his shown in a couple of cut aways during the show. Dave referenced UC and Cincinnati several times during the show.
