It's also a lot to do with Goodin being 89% (seems likely to regress based off last year and that he shot just over 70% as a hs senior.)

Kanter is also in the 80s after being in the 60's his whole career, so that seems likely to regress too.

Both of those guys have taken just under 40 FTs. O'Mara is at 90% on around 30 attempts after spending his whole career in the 60's.

Seems like a combination of having good shooters (Macura/Bluiet) and other guys running hot in small samples.

That or they brought in someone new who is the FT shooting instructor god.
Small samples really have nothing to do with it. What matters is what’s the overall team percentages and that is over 80 percent
Maybe X is shooting a little over their heads right now...I don’t know - I think I would be satisfied with a team average of 75% - doesn’t seem undoable if it is a priority - Of course it is an entirely different animal, but it’s interesting to note that the top 20 free throw shooting NBA teams are all 75 percent or better

We have made more FTs than our opponents have attempted. That's what people were hoping for this year. Well, we got it. So who gives a crap about Xavier and their FT%? Good for them.

When you’re only the 234th best at making the attempts, it starts to matter. We’re leaving a ton of points bouncing off the rim. Not even counting how many of those were front ends of a one & one. I only pick X ‘cause they are the top ft shooting major in the country right now

Huh? I'm not following something.

Why does the team FT% only matter? No hypothetical average person "team" is ever the one shooting the FT. What matters is each individual's FT shooting percentage.

Fwiw, I felt the same until I looked at all of those guys making massive jumps from their career numbers. Does make me wonder if they hired someone new or tweaked something, although I'd lean to it mostly being due to small sample sizes and running hot.

I couldn't care less about anything Xavier is doing tbh. Do you think their board has a thread about our defensive stats being better than theirs?

It's not a matter of it being Xavier. I'd feel this way regardless of who it was. It's a pretty absurd improvement for whatever reason. It just happens to be our rival.

Would this thread be on our board if it was Stephen F Austin though?

I'm just saying this in general. Not arguing anything you're saying.
