Either way someone will have to go. It's very late now to kick a player out. |

Some Twitter poster said the Athletic reporter confirmed Aziz to UC, but I find no such announcement. I wonder if something was pulled?
Even if he couldn't play this season, I think it would be a positive move for the program overall. Not really excited about where the team is yet. Just trying to give it time. But next season could be only about patience. |

MAW enters the portal . . . There’s something brewing here.

The portal closes tomorrow I think. I wonder if this was us wanting to open a spot or another team looking for a veteran guard at the last minute.
There's a possibility Jizzle can be a 20-25 minute guy and Day Day 15-20. But I would feel much better having a veteran who can play point. We'll just have to wait and see. |

We've been targeting another center for several weeks now, so someone would've always had to go to make space for that player.
Weird how MAW released a statement confirming his 23/24 return only to leave now, but I guess things can change in a short span of time. There was going to be a logjam at the 1 for minutes, and while MAW provided the most stable option, I have no problem giving those minutes to two players with higher upsides. MAW will assuredly have high major suitors given his pedigree and hopefully finds a promising landing spot ala JD. |

The rumor going around is that MAW is only going to have one suitor, because he knew where he was going before entering the portal. Apparently he got poached by an offer of a significant amount of NIL money.
Can't blame him if that's the case, he could stay here, with a lot of fans who are hoping he plays minimal minutes. Or go play starter minutes elsewhere, while making 200k. The other rumor is that this took Wes by surprise, MAW was not the guy expected to leave to make room if we needed it. We may need to add another PG, relying on Jizzle and Day Day to be our only two PG's is a major risk. CJ Anthony may get his chance to play meaningful minutes if we don't add another PG. |

I can't see that happening unless Jizzle and Day Day are both injured. Those guys could play 30 minutes if they had to and we'd live with some mistakes, which Anthony would be prone to just as much. I think we'd see Simas at point forward before Anthony getting minutes in a meaningful game.

MAW has been a hard worker and more of a help than a hinderance in my opinion. I would have valued his experience and leadership this year.
But I don't think he can do anything that someone else on this squad can't step up and fill that role. We just need to be sure someone can start plays and not lose the ball. Easier said than done, I know, but I think someone will take that seriously and do alright. If he's getting that kind of money, I'm happy for him. It might be his only chance to get paid professionally at that high a rate. I don't see him playing much overseas even. But he might be someone who gets into coaching eventually. |
