Because we have mercury vapor lighting that takes forever to come back on.

I understand the light situation. Although, I do think its lame we still have those, my old high-school has better newer lights. I was thinking of getting some smoke/fog. There has to be some loud boom or flashy bang that gets people excited ha.

Smoke or Fog? Are you kidding me? Come to think of it, has anyone seen a basketball team come out in Smoke/fog?...im all for doing something cool but if that thing is Smoke/fog id rather the team not get announced at all.
