Yes Yancy is a low post player. What most people don't seem to get is that he's more comfortable as a face up player than a back to the basket guy. Even Mick admits this. If you're expecting Danny Fortson, Yancy isn't him.

Couple this with Thomas who doesn't to like to play in the post at all and we have a weak front line. Now you get why we jack up 29 3s a game.

Here's one thing I have an issue with. Mick was asked if he thought about playing Biggie and Gates together and he said, "No, their 4 man shoots 3 point shots." This is an example of what I mean when I say Mick worries more about matching up with the other team rather than making the other team match up to him. I'm fairly certain you're allowed to switch defenses in D1 basketball to accomodate the players you have on the floor.

I do think Mick is a good X and O guy and I think he's a good recruiter. I do not think he does very well with personnel management and changing his X's and O's to meet their strength.

By the way, Yancy must be a face up rebounder as well. I wish he would understand all the people and fans want from him is effort. If he played harder he'd get 8 rebounds by accident.

The worst thing that happened to this team is Yancy making those several fade away jumpers during the X game. Don't get me wrong, of course I was glad he made the shots and UC spanked X. But now he thinks he is a jump shooter and wants to fade away on every shot.

The problem is that Yancy is a jump shooter, always has been, he was never a post player until he got to UC and they are trying to make him one, but he refuses. With his size and ability he should be a hand full on the post, but he refuses to play it that way or just flat can't figure it out. It's quite sad, because we would have a huge advantage if he would post up, but it's hard to impose your will when you have no will.
