Big East Tournament
With the loss of West Virginia and UCONN not participating, the tournament is set up a little different this year. 4 double byes, 6 single byes and 4 teams playing on Tuesday. As strange as it may seem with 6 games remaining, we are basically locked into a single bye.
We are currently the 7 seed. We have 3 teams ahead of us at 8-4 to get the double bye: Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Notre Dame. While it is technically possible for us to get the double by, it will be very difficult to jump these 3 teams in the next 6 games. We are also 3 games ahead of Rutgers at 4-8 to fall out of the single bye. This is unlikely barring an epic collapse. Like every year in the Big East tournament, the actual seeds and matchups are a toss up until literally the last day. However, with the single bye line being so large, it is interesting to look at where we currently stand. |
