His BPR numbers say he was below average on offense and above average on defense as a freshman. As a sophomore he was average on offense and below average on defense. Ideally, he can sustain his good rebounding and low turnover rate he posted as a sophomore while repeating his freshman year block rate and low usage efficient scoring. He put on 35 pounds since his high school years, which may have affected his leaping quickness and shot blocking ability. Maybe Rehfeldt can help him find a good balance of strength and agility. Attached is how Torvik's RosterCast sees us next year. I think minutes will be more spread out, but it's a decent projection from an algorithm. Adding Ody and Ado moved us from 125 to 94 overall. The defense is now top 40. Our pg spot is what brings the offense down. If DDJ and Mikey can improve their shooting and Mikey limits turnovers, we can be competitive.

Here's some notes from what Miller said about the individual players on Chad's most recent podcast:
DeJulius Believes he can be a really dynamic offensive player... Makes note of him having 3 head coaches over the past 3 years (w/ Miller being his 4th)... Says he has met more with him 1-on-1 than any other player so far Davenport States that his energy is infectious as soon as he walks in the room... Acknowledges how much pride he has for Cincinnati and how its evident he's playing for something bigger than himself every time he's on the court... is a fan of how he can play/defend multiple positions MAW Miller recruited MAW in high school at UNCG... Wants him to be a little more assertive and fearless with the ball in his hands next season, less afraid to make mistakes... Big believer in his offensive playmaking ability Lakhin Viktor's health is a huge question mark... He apparently didn't practice at all last season aside from a few 1-on-1 workouts... Miller watched him in person at an international event alongside Sean Dwyer pre-COVID even though UNCG did not recruit him Saunders Believes his "speed" will be an asset this year as the game slows down for him more... Excited to see him develop as an overall point guard too Madsen Loves that he's a gym rat and how he reminds Miller of himself as a player... Believes he can be much more than a "shooter" for us next season Newman Has a big chip on his shoulder to prove he is the player that he displayed as a sophomore at Clemson... Has lots of faith in him as a scorer, wing defender, and overall winner... Said he can be the guy that defends the best wings in the AAC for us Koval An "elite rim presence"... He's fearless in that he tries to block everything and is not afraid to get dunked on... Runs well/moves well and plays very physical despite how thin he is... Hoping he makes big strides with his body this offseason as a part of Mike's strength program Hensley Big fan of his physical tools and versatility on the court... Like Koval, he is an extremely hard worker... Says the "sky is the limit" for him if he can improve his jump shot... Can play the 3/4 but will need to make strides with his defense McGinnis "Sniper"... Great catch-and-shoot player... Responds well to being "coached hard" Ody Has a really high motor, says UC fans will love the way he plays... recruited him at UNCG... he has improved a great bit as he was originally a very raw HS recruit... Believes he is just tapping in to how good of an offensive player he can be Overall Loves the personality of the players he has brought in and how they're not only selfless but competitive... Believes we are much more capable of physically competing with the best teams in the AAC than we were last season Last edited by Queens_NYC; 05-21-2021 at 01:51 PM. |

We've added Maro Egodotaye from Dayton as a walk-on. 6'9" or 6'10" center, seems to have good length and athleticism. Started playing basketball as a freshman, so has a lot to learn. Won't impact this year obviously, but he seems like a guy who get a scholarship and play major minutes in a few years if he develops well.

He seems very raw but physically looks like he could develop into a beast. Nice prospect to land. |

We’ve really got to point of trying develop walk ons? Come on guys give it a break. Alex Meacham is perfect example of walk on, local guy that has nice political backing and funds. Basically you get walk on a because of who their parents are not their skills

This is a great addition. With the Bigs that have been already brought in, this kid has no choice but to get better. There's no ceiling for this kid. After watching his highlights, his post moves , while raw are encouraging.
Put some muscle on him, the confidence will follow. I like it. Nice grab. |
