I think everyone knows and realizes balance is important. But it isn't the most important issue with recruiting. If you have the chance to fill a scholarship with a very good player, you worry about class balance later.

As for bringing in a Juco, it will help balance, but they have immediate needs at the position and it is a lot harder to find a freshman big man that can come in and immediately contribute. The year after next when Yancy is gone, they will have a Jackson as a junior and Gaines as a sophomore, and Ellis as a freshman or sophomore. They need another big with experience or else they will be rough in the front court. Getting a JUCO big man now to get adjusted with Yancy as a senior is critical. Even if the classes were balance they would still be trying hard to bring in a JUCO.
