Reds land Puig,Kemp,Wood and a prospect Farmer as well as cash for Homer Bailey, Jeter Downs and Josiah Gray.
Will be interesting to see how the reds outfield shapes up. Still don't have a true CF on major league roster. All three Dodgers the reds acquired only have 1 year of team control. |

Crazy trade. I love how aggressive the Reds are being. Being able to unload Bailey and bring back talent is unfathomable to me, but the Dodgers were so desperate to unload payroll and players. My only fear is the Reds throw away their future prospects to win now and it fall short. Whereas I dont have a problem with the two prospects we gave up, the rumor for what they'll give up for Kluber might worry me what their priorities are. A small market team can't give away too many prospects for players they cant afford long term. If these are all one year guys then what's the plan for 2020? Dont get me wrong I love this trade, but am just anxious to see what the plan is for this team

Like you I don't want to see them gut the farm but if they are acquiring players who make them better and give them a chance to win I'm good with that. So far they have improved the club and maintained their top 5 prospects in the process. Also they have payroll flexibility to sign FA's which don't cost prospects. Adding Dallas Keuchel is a possibility. They also have the option of trading some of what they acquired at the trade deadline for prospects if they are not contending thus restocking if you will. They also could offer them qualifying offers at year end and if they don't except they get more draft picks. The reds have stated they are not done yet. At the very least they have improved the roster for next year to this point. In my mind finding more TOR pitching and a true CF is still needed to get them in the playoff picture. I think they still have a couple of moves left. |
