Like I said, how is that relevant? It was a comparison of their resumes on paper.

It's like the difference between theory and application.

They will probably get more deference because they are Louisville and people believe they are good. However, objectively, if we are a 5 seed right now, it is difficult to see why Louisville should be higher than a 5 seed as well. Here's the breakdown:

Cincinnati
Record: 16-4
Big East: 4-3
Vs Top 100: 7-4
Best Wins: Marquette (18), Oregon (21), Iowa St. (41), Pittsburgh (49)
Losses: New Mexico (6), Syracuse (8), Notre Dame (49), St. John's (53)
RPI: 22
SOS: 13

Louisville
Record: 16-4
Big East: 4-3
Vs Top 100: 7-4
Best Wins: Missouri (25), Connecticut (28), Memphis (46), Kentucky (65)
Losses: Duke (1), Syracuse (8), Georgetown (42), Villanova (58)
RPI: 12 (not including Georgetown loss)
SOS: 12

Like I said, very similar.
Great comparison. The big east continues to flex its muscle. I will hate to see this league dissipate, it really is fun to watch. Screw what college football has become. While loserville's 3 losses in a row is nice to see, they are still a tough as$ team, but it sure is nice to see them sweat

I don't think Mbodj vs Dieng is an important match up at all.
Syracuse won because of Williams and Triche. They don't show up toward the end, we kick their butts. In fact, most of the second half barring the last 5 minutes or so, we kind of did.

To weigh in on the big man debate... I think it's clear that while our lack of an efficient offensive presence inside has hurt at times, as far as the overall system goes (and Mick's ability to get the most out of his teams, imo) their limitations aren't as glaring as they may be on other teams. Bearcat teams have done two things consistently for the past twenty years: Defend and rebound. These big men can do that. Sure Mbodj is a foul magnet but with the ability to play JJ at the five it's not really a huge concern. It's not like having to sit Yancy with two fouls in the first half last year when he was such a big part of the offense.

For example, if we had Obekpa on this team, does anyone think we would actually be any better? He would bring exceptional shot blocking but he is still extremely raw in other areas, including offense. My point is, Mick has learned to be flexible with his personnel better than maybe any other coach in the Big East over the last couple years having to deal with losing Yancy, going to a four guard lineup and this year knowing approx. 2/3 of our scoring would come from three players. Our big men aren't the most talented, and they are not ideal. But they do a sufficient job fitting into the system, imo.
