Temple Game Thread

Temple (10-7, 2-4 AAC, Net #80) are currently on a 5-game losing streak against the Bearcats including the past 3 games in Philly. After getting off to a hot start to this season (winning 6 of their first 7 games) under first year coach (and former Temple star/15-year NBA veteran) Aaron Mckie, Temple has since cooled down, losing 4 of their past 5 AAC games.

Temple returns 7 contributors from last season's NCAA First Four team including double-digit scorers Quinton Rose and Nate Pierre-Louis. However both players have seen a decrease in their scoring and shooting percentages so far this season. The duo are shooting a combined 23.6% from 3.

What Temple lacks on offense (ranked 245th per KenPom), they make up for on defense where they are currently ranked 17th. They hold opponents to 28% shooting from 3 and 38% overall shooting from the field.

With UC currently listed as 2.5 point favorites, this game should be considered a must-win if we want to continue our current progression towards NCAA at-large bubble status.

I wouldn't want to bet on this game. They beat WSU at home (12 pts) and almost beat Houston at home (-4 pts). But they have also lost to Rider and Tulane at home by significant margins. Looks like they get jacked up in big games.

They did beat Rider 78-66 earlier this season, but the recent home loss to Tulane is quite puzzling. Tulane shot the ball at an average rate and Temple shot horribly - it doesn't appear Tulane played the game of their lives.

Wichita shot 3-21 from 3 in their loss at Temple.

We've shot 35% from 3 over the past 4 games (31% on the season), which hopefully is a sign of the offense gelling and us taking better shots.

Temple also appears to be dealing with some recent injury issues that could work in our favor.

My bad on the Rider game...not sure what I was looking at. Either way, at home they can play with some very good teams. The injuries don't sound too serious but they might not be playing at 100%.

Erik Stevenson, who has arguably been Wichita's best player all year went 0-8 from the field 0-5 from 3 and had a 4.1 ORTG that game.

i think its funny that despite the coaching change temple is still a team that could win or lose any game they play by 30.

They have an awful culture.

And hiring a guy who's been on the bench the last few years meant the culture wasn't going to change all that much.

Im just concerned with Temple having a top 20 defense and being top 50 in Steal percentage. We are loose with the ball and even looser on the road.

Hard to predict a win in this BUT if we do win, its going to because:
1. they have no answer for Chris Vogt
2. We kick their ass on the boards
3. Jarron Cumberland is the best player on the floor

Vogt with 2 fouls 2:30 mins into the game is a killer, sorolla can’t hold a candle to Vogt offensively
