Tulane Game Thread
Saturday, January 4th, 2020
4:00 PM Devlin Fieldhouse CBS SN Tulane (8-5, 0-1 AAC, NET #145) enters their 2020 AAC home opener with a renewed sense of purpose after already doubling last year's win total 10 games into the season and are coming off a resilient effort @Memphis this past Monday night. Despite losing by 11, Tulane rallied from a 14-point deficit early in the 2nd half to cut the Memphis lead down to 3 within the final minutes of the game. First year coach Ron Hunter completed a total roster overhaul this offseason, and now plays a 7-man rotation featuring 5 transfers, 1 returning sophomore, and 1 true freshman. They lost talented guard, Ray Ona Embo, just over a month ago as he opted to return to his native France to pursue a pro career. So far this season, Tulane has done a solid job of taking care of the ball (12 TOs/game) and not fouling their opponents (14 fouls/game) while shooting the 3 at a respectable 36% clip. On the flip side, they are one of the weaker rebounding teams in the nation and block less than 2 shots per game. They don't start any traditional post players (they start 1 small point guard, 2 average sized wings, and 2 longer wings) and the only one they regularly bring off the bench is a true freshman. Despite playing a very weak schedule so far, they do possess a Q1 win having beat Utah (NET #50) in an early season tournament. |

We need to defend well and Scott and Vogt need to have a combined 30 points. Kill them in the paint.
They also appear to be a terrible assist team, so need to ensure they don't create easy baskets for themselves off 1-1's. |

Im concerned about this one
If we play like we did against UCONN we will be fine. But Ron hunter has never had a chance to host a team like Cincinnati on his home floor. He will get his guys ready and they have talented guys with Hightower and KJ Lawson. They beat a team that beat Kentucky and are 5-0 at home (though the teams they played at home sucked). I hope its a UC blow out but I suspect this comes down to the wire |

All league road games are going to be hard. Hope we keep improving. We have a good chance to start league play 4-0 and get back on track.

These kind of games are crucial to have any real chance of making the tournament. Hopefully the team shows the necessary level of urgency.
