Kid has great athleticism, strong natural talent and a good frame to add some bulk to... this is a very good commitment, don't worry about the rankings or offers AT THIS POINT... like others have said, he should blow up some. He's only been playing basketball for 3-4 years!!!

Cincinnati landed its first 2012 commitment when 6-foot-8 power forward Devon Scott of Columbus (Ohio) Northland verbally pledged to the Bearcats Tuesday.
“As of now, I am verbally committed to Cincinnati,” he tweeted. He added: “I’m happy with my choice and nothing outside my family could change it…” Scott said he also considered Xavier and West Virginia. http://www.zagsblog.com/ |

Seems like a good get. High motor, hard worker, does the "dirty work".
If you are a offensively skilled PF/C, wouldn't you want to play next to a kid like that? |

I love this kid's size and athleticism but he needs to work on his mental toughness.
In the state championship against LaSalle, 6-foot-3 Ryan Fleming got in his head and completely took him out of the game. He's got plenty of time though. Should be a solid Big East power forward in a couple years. |

Looks like a theme. Hard worker, never takes a day off... These are the kind of kids you need to compete night in and night out in the grind that is the big east conference.. Looks like the cats got this kid before he blows up like McGray... Hopefully we get Hammons and the future looks bright with size, athleticism, and tenacious rebounding...

If they land either Hammons or Blaise, you'd have to think that significantly reduces the chances of Scott being a Bearcat with they way they are going after a wing player. You can never be certain in recruiting though.

The more and more I see of Devin the more I like him. Really seems to fit the bearcat style of play. Rebounds like a mad man, is very athletic, and has good offensive potential. The talent of Hammons and Blaise are undeniable but they dont seem to fit the style as much. Either way I trust cronins evaluation of talent and whichever way we end up going I will be okay with it.
