Ron Patterson

He was just forced out at IU and can transfer anywhere and be eligible this year. According to Rivals, UC had interest awhile back. Any chance Mick takes a look?

This is what happens when you oversign. This guy was the second signee in his class to IU and gets pushed out.

IU over-signed again for this next class already too. You hear about it more in football than basketball but apparently Tom Crean is a pro when it comes to over-signing. Sounds like a convenient excuse that the kid couldn't get in academically. I bet if he was a top 25 player in his class, he would have magically been accepted.

He didn't qualify academically, not sure how he'd be able to play elsewhere this season. I am pretty sure most schools have similar academic requirements for their athletes. He will likely head the Prep School route.

Typical forum speculation.

It pains me to say it but Jason is actually 100% correct. This release had nothing to do with academics and everything to do with crean over signing. Patterson was the odd man out

he actually qualified with the ncaa. he was already enrolled at IU this summer. IU said an advisory committee kicked him out because he got a c- instead of a c in a summer class.

i.e. IU oversigned, he was their recruit least likely to play, had a so-so attitude at summer workouts and was removed to make the scholarship situation work.

he was already enrolled and is eligible by the NCAA.

Exactly. He will be eligible immediately wherever he goes

I don't doubt at all that if IU really wanted this guy to get in, they would have been able to do that. If DePaul can admit this guy, http://deadspin.com/5586072/the-sear...ete-starts-now ,IU can find room for Patterson
