@CraigHaubert WR Tacoi Sumler (Columbus HS, Fla.) ran a reported electronic 4.24 40 @ the Nike SPARQ National Championship in Oregon. That is fast folks!

Holy Shit! And for that to be Electronic you have to be impressed. It sure would be nice to have that speed on the field.

hard to say. My gut instinct would be no. He went on a pretty lenghty west coast tour in the past few weeks visiting USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal and Oregon and seems to be really high on the PAC 10 right now. He hasn't cut down his list year, but when he does I doubt UC will be in it. He hasn't made it to UC for an unofficial. UC is in much better shape to make a run with Damiere Byrd, the guy who wound up second to Sumler in Eugene in the 40 than with Sumler himself.

I guess I was wrong about UC's chances. Sumler has cut it down to Five($) and UC has made the cut. In order Oregon, Stanford, South Carolina, Wake Forest and UC. There is a lot of work to be done, starting with getting him on campus. He has taken unoficials to the other four schools. He wants to take his official visits early in the year and make a decision, but Butch and Co are in with a chance.

Will be tough to beat out Oregon for his services but it's a great testament to the staff's efforts by getting into his top 5. Even if we don't land some of these national recruits it has been great to see UC in the top 5 for blue chips guys from FL, NJ, PA, etc. That would've never happened before.
