I agree on fouling but he wasn’t even attempting to make plays he normally would. Fortunately he found some desire at the end

3 of our first 4 made buckets were 3-pointers and then our final points of the half came from beyond the arc as well with just over 3 minutes to go. We didn't make a 3 for the rest of the game.
It's not much to dwell on, but it's still fairly remarkable we can shoot so poorly and still win games on the road against near top 100 competition. |

Free Throw Shooting
I know we've had some obvious offensive struggles all season outside of JC, especially the past few games, however, I'm extremely impressed by this teams FT shooting the past few games.
UCF - 91.7% (11-12) UCONN - 93.8% (15-16) SMU - 93.3% (14-15) TOTAL - 93.0% (40-43) Those numbers are extremely impressive and we likely do not win these games without it. If we can continue to hit FT's going into tourney time (obviously not going to be sustainable at >90%), it's going to make us an even tougher out with how we're able to defend and if we can get really anything going on the offensive end outside of JC & KW. The best thing about this team is they have shown the ability to win in a number of different ways. Extremely resilient group. |

Cronin needs to drill that into their head immediately. I really don't have much problem with either of them taking an uncontested mid range shot. They both have a decent shooting touch...but they both are abysmal when they think they have to hurry anywhere on the court. They either fake when they shouldn't or the don't fake when they should. Their timing around the basket is awful. In practice we need to have them go 1 on 2 against Diara and Nsoseme until they understand how to make plays around the basket. I want to end this on a positive. They really cleaned house on the boards and the defense last night was probably the best of the year. Unfortunately we had our worst offensive game of the year to go with it. We won but we gotta get these two some work under the basket. |

That was not a fun game to watch.
But, I knew it would be tough. Ugly ugly ugly. But a win on the road doesn't have to be pretty. It highlighted some serious concerns for the rest of the season: 1) Our bigs continue to struggle putting the ball in the basket from 1 foot out. They are not strong with the ball at all. It's embarrassing at this point. 2) Cumberland is in a longer funk then I expected. This has me concerned. The goods to come out: 1) Those same bigs are really crashing the boards and playing some terrific D. 2) The Bearcats continue to step up at the end of game and make plays 3) Free throw shooting has become an advantage for us. |

We shot 26% and still won, that is amazing and embarrassing at the same time. Either way I guess a win is a win.
Cheers to 24 wins boys. |

He is playing pretty poorly the past few games. It is what it is. Last night, he missed several fairly easy attempts in the paint. This has been a problem all year - he has shot better from beyond the arc than inside it. Teams have figured this out, and are basically daring him to beat them off the dribble because even when he does, he just misses a floater or a layup. When he starts hitting those shots, he will get more room on the perimeter. |
