Can we compete for a league title?

I thought early in the summer, UConn, Louisville and perhaps with their stockpile of talent Memphis would be head and shoulders above the rest. It seems a pretty open race to me. UConn getting dropped twice, Memphis looks to be hobbled by their coach and Louisville lost Ware and Behanan.

Sure, UC can compete for the league title. According to Live-RPI, Cincinnati will be favored to win the next 6 games: @Houston, Rutgers, Temple, @USF, UCF, @Temple. Out of those 6, the game on Tuesday night is probably going to be the toughest. Houston is 2-0 in the league, playing with a ton of confidence. UConn came out really flat against them, and Houston pounced all over them getting up by 21 in the first half. Hopefully that game will wake up UC, and they will come out ready to play.

If UC is sitting at 8-0 after that stretch, or even 7-1...they will definitely be in the hunt to win it.

I honestly don't see what is stopping us from winning this conference... Its obvious we can beat Memphis, UConn has already lost twice, and they only have two players they can rely on. Also, with Loserville losing Chane Behanan and Kevin Ware, I think we can beat them out. And if you want to include SMU, I mean yea they beat UConn, but we already beat them and I dont see us loosing to them later in the year. This team has a very good shot at only losing 2-3 games in conference play and possibly getting the #1 seed in the conference tourney! I think Cincy has a good shot at winning this conference

Based on what we have seen so far and your comments about UL losing two players...I would say we can.

It is going to be weird. UC will not play a team that is currently expected to make the tournament until Jan 30th. Can't afford bad losses...

Exactly. It's going to be on Mick and the seniors to keep this team focused through this 6-game stretch. The teams we are facing aren't Kennesaw State, but they aren't Louisville either. Playing at Houston will be tough, but there's no excuse for dropping any of the 5 games after that... and they should be able to take care of Houston as well.

If we go to Louisville 8-0, we absolutely have a shot at winning the league title. After that, we will need to split our remaining games against Louisville, UConn, Memphis, and SMU. If we do that, I think we'll be right at the top of the conference.
